The alternative to bankruptcy could mean giving creditors your bank account, your paycheck, and being forced to give up your home. It is far better to bury your pride and save yourself.

People facing bankruptcy are under enormous financial pressure. The pressure people feel is caused by having debts they can’t pay. The remedy for that pressure may be bankruptcy.  Financial stress is usually relieved by filing bankruptcy. Relief in bankruptcy no longer has the social stigma that it once had. The social stigma of bankruptcy was erased during the Great Recession. Millions of people have filed bankruptcy. So has General Motors, the cities of San Bernardino, Detroit and Stockton.
