Don’t complain about your bad bankruptcy lawyer. Fire your bad bankruptcy lawyer! It is perfectly acceptable to fire a bad bankruptcy lawyer.
The sooner you fire a bad lawyer, the better it is for you. It is natural for you to hesitate. You probably worry about losing the money you already paid. For many people it is natural to shy away from conflict. Especially to avoid criticizing an authority figure like a lawyer or a doctor. If you are like many other people, you might sit tight and hope things get better.
A bad bankruptcy lawyer could cost you assets in court.
Any lawyer who deserves to be fired may cost you far more than just the fee you already paid. You are probably going into bankruptcy to save your home, car, and gain relief from a mountain of debts. Bad lawyering could result in losing the legal rights you are fighting to save. We see it all the time.
The warning signs of a bad bankruptcy lawyer usually appear right after your retainer gets paid. Some of the warning signs of a bad bankruptcy lawyer:
- Lawyer stops returning calls after getting paid
- You can’t get straight answers to basic questions
- Your paperwork is taking forever
“I don’t want to lose the money I already paid!”
That is perfectly normal. Nobody wants to lose money or pay twice for the same thing. But you need a reality check. The money you paid is already lost if you hired a bad bankruptcy lawyer.
You deserve good service from your lawyer. But don’t just expect it. Demand It when your lawyer doesn’t provide what you paid for, fire your bad bankruptcy lawyer. I am amazed by clients who put up with poor service. Here’s how I know about the lousy service that bad bankruptcy lawyers are giving their clients.
We get calls every day from people who already filed bankruptcy.
Some of them call us because the lawyer they hired can’t answer their questions. Worse than that, some people tell us that once the lawyer got their money, the lawyer stopped returning their phone calls. Some clients say they have been waiting months for the lawyer to finish their papers.
Does your lawyer return phone calls? We do!

Cory’s Case – How we fixed a case that was in trouble because of a bad bankruptcy lawyer.
I recently took over the case for a young mother named Cory. Her lawyer was an inexperienced Los Angeles Bankruptcy Attorney. (Even so, her lawyer still charged about the same fee as an ‘Old War Horse’ like me charges.)
Cory’s case had a small problem because of the paperwork her lawyer submitted. (It would have been easy for a more experienced lawyer to straighten things out.) Even so, the problem was holding up the completion because Cory’s bad lawyer didn’t know how to deal with it. So, the lawyer just kept ignoring it.
The problem was also causing Cory to attend extra hearings where nothing ever got accomplished. To make matters worse, Cory’s health was fragile and it was making her an emotional wreck.
(Incidentally, Cory couldn’t raise the money I needed to take over her case. So, what did we do? My law office went ahead and we handled Cory’s case FOR FREE. We did that because she needed our help. She wrote a very nice complement about us on Google Places which you can read, here.)
Now please, don’t expect my office to do your case for free. We can’t afford to keep our doors open if we do that for everyone. And,there are just too many messed up Los Angeles Bankruptcy cases for my office to take all of them. What we will do for you is to consider your “ability to pay” as a factor in the fees that we charge. But always, the bankruptcy consultation is free.
Los Angeles Bankruptcy Attorney: Good Service. Demand it. You Paid For It.
