Having an experienced bankruptcy lawyer matters. Especially when it’s your own case. Lawyers who lack significant experience are fine. But they should work under the direct supervision of an experienced bankruptcy lawyer. Inexperienced lawyers lack the ability to solve routine issues. Let alone, the complex issues. Even if it’s just a “simple bankruptcy case”. I say “simple.” But there really aren’t simple bankruptcy cases. Especially since the new bankruptcy laws took effect.

Here is a sample of questions I have already had today from clients:

  • When can I get new credit?
  • How do I lease a car while I’m in Chapter 13?
  • What does this court paper mean?
  • How will I know if my tax debt was discharged?
  • How much longer can I stay in my house without paying?
  • Should I reaffirm my car loan?
  • Must I reaffirm my mortgage.

experienced bankruptcy lawyerOf course, I easily answer all of these questions. I have been a Los Angeles bankruptcy lawyer for 35 years. What’s more, my clients know they can call me. And, they know I can give them the bankruptcy advice and answers they need. Instant advice without delay. Inexperienced lawyers can’t do that. They often call an experienced Los Angeles bankruptcy lawyer. Like me, or Jeffrey Wishman. We answer questions from other lawyers. Then those lawyers call their own client back.

You have to wonder. Why wouldn’t a prospective client not go to an experienced bankruptcy lawyer?

you need an experienced bankruptcy lawyerSome consumers think an experienced bankruptcy lawyer is expensive. The reality is that most lawyers all charge pretty much the same. Especially for an average bankruptcy case. The reason is because fees are set by a free marketplace. Competition keeps us all pretty much in the same range of fees.

Sometimes a new lawyer comes along. Newcomers start a law practice charging half as much as most other bankruptcy lawyers. But that is not sustainable. A lawyer who tries to undercut everyone else soon goes out of business. There are fixed costs. For example, office rent, paying a secretary, office equipment, etc. A lawyer must charge enough to cover those costs.

Many of the clients who went with low cost lawyers wind up coming to us. That’s because their own lawyer closed up and disappeared. That’s a real shame. The consumer paid the requested fee to that lawyer. But did not get much for their money.

You can easily find a highly experienced bankruptcy lawyer in Los Angeles. There are many to choose from. Your best overall value will be with one of them. If you want to talk with us, we are happy to meet with you.
